catmasutra 3 Painting Exhibition

About catmaSutra 4 - The Painting Exhibition

With more up their sleeves, Angel and Halo are back in Catmasutra 4, popping up in places where you least expect them to. Here, Paul Koh sets out creating a world that exists between our memories and reality – an “in-between” world, filled with magic that suddenly grabs us, tickles us and remember things that don’t necessarily fit neatly anywhere. Each of Paul’s work has Halo or Angel as the motif, be it in a Singapore “kopitiam” or on a mysterious diving board high up in the sky, sporting the trademark eyes-wide-shut, ear-to-ear grin. In each of his paintings, the cats are the artist’s gateway to this quirky and irreverent world, and amidst familiar dreamscapes, a momentary freedom to dream and make time stand still.

Michelle (or Mysh as she is known by friends) introduces a new addition to her art series – a fluffy apricot-coloured friend of Poodle breed that entertains, smiles 24/7 and looks forward to lunching at his favourite dog café. Pfeiff has provided Michelle with countless hours of companionship and laughter and for a small tiny Poodle, he sure displays a lot of affection. In Catmasutra 4, Michelle continues her “dotting” technique but with more complex compositions and landscapes. In “Hot Air Balloon”, we see her attempting to introduce Pfeiff alongside Halo and Angel in a magical star-filled skyscape. Still retaining the “naïve” and child-like approach, Michelle’s pieces invariably evoke a feeling of “holidaying” and fantasies where nothing comes between her and her dreams.

Filled with quirky and karmic charisma … Catmasutra 4 will embrace you in its own expansive realm, and leaves you intoxicated and craving for more...
